Pharmaceutical Drop Off
In recent years the EPA and others have found pharmaceuticals in treated waste water, streams and lakes. At this time, studies to determine acceptable levels in the environment are in the early phases and regulatory standards have not been developed. Due to this citizens should not dispose of these products in sinks, toilets, storm drains or natural water courses. To safely dispose of unused or unwanted medications 24 hours a day, 365 days a year boxes have been placed at the locations listed below.

While we are required by program guidelines to monitor the boxes, although the individuals who place medications in it will remain anonymous. We are unable to take medications taken by injection through the drop box, needles, or any medications containing mercury. The drugs will be removed from the boxes by the Floyd County Sheriff’s department and taken to a vendor for proper disposal that eliminates the negative effects on the environment.
